Springboks
The pride of South Africa
The Springboks
The Springboks are the national rugby team of South Africa and they’re the pride of the rainbow nation.
Thanks to their victory over England in the 2019 Rugby World Cup final, the Springboks are the current world champions. However, they’re set for an even sterner test later this year because the British and Irish Lions are set to visit South Africa for a three-test series.
On this page, you can discover everything there is to know about the Springboks. You’ll find the side’s upcoming fixtures and latest results right here.
Current Squad for the Springboks
As the current champions of the world, the current Springboks squad is one of the strongest on the planet. For the British and Irish Lions tour of 2021, Siya Kolisi will captain the side, much like he did in their impressive 2019 World Cup victory. He’ll be joined on the field by several powerhouses of South African rugby, such as Eben Etzebeth, François Steyn and Morné Steyn.
Championships and Results for the Springboks
The Springboks are one of the most successful sides in rugby history. Although they were banned from the first two editions of the Rugby World Cup due to apartheid, they won the first edition of the tournament they entered in 1995. Since, they’ve won the tournament on another two occasions and they’ve finished in third place twice.
In addition to this, the Springboks have also won The Rugby Championship (formerly the Tri Nations) on four occasions. This includes a success in 2019, when they also won the Rugby World Cup.
In terms of head to head results, the Springboks also hold a winning record against every side they’ve ever faced, barring New Zealand. As of 2021, they’re also the number one test team in the world.
