Tadhg Beirne is a top-class lock who has been highly successful throughout his career. A star for Ireland and Munster, he’s a player with the world at his feet.
Born 8 January 1992, Tadhg Beirne began playing rugby at a young age. Thanks to a string of excellent performances in his youth, he was picked up by the Leinster Academy and eventually graduated to the first team in 2015. However, after only four appearances off the bench for the first XV, he was released in 2016.
After his release from Leinster, Tadhg Beirne signed for Scarlets. He made an immediate impact for the side and played a crucial role in their successful 2016-17 season, when they captured the PRO12 title (now the PRO14). This was their first piece of major silverware since the 2003-04 season.
After making more than 50 appearances for Scarlets, Tadhg Beirne moved back to Ireland in 2018 when he signed for Munster. In his first full season with the club, he was named in the 2018–19 PRO14 Dream Team. This was the second time he earned the accolade in as many seasons.
Due to his impressive performances for Scarlets and Munster, Tadhg Beirne earned his first call up for Ireland in 2018. Since, he’s established himself as a regular and he was even named in the 2021 Six Nations Team of the Championship.
Thanks to his success on the international stage, Tadhg Beirne was called up to represent the British and Irish Lions on their 2021 tour of South Africa.
