Who Will Win?

New Zealand will go into this matchup with Argentina as the favourites. Despite losing against France in the opening game of the tournament, the All Blacks have since been in formidable form and will come into this game on the back of a victory over Ireland, who were unbeaten in almost 20 test matches.

However, Argentina certainly won’t be pushovers. Despite starting their quarter-final slowly, they comfortably defeated Wales and will come into this knowing that they’re playing their best rugby of the tournament.

Think you know which way Argentina vs New Zealand will go? Vote in our poll.

Head-to-Head

Remarkably, New Zealand hold a winning record against every international team they’ve ever played. However, Argentina have performed admirably against the All Blacks lately and have won one of the last five games between the sides - so the result is far from a foregone conclusion.

Team Form

Both sides come into this Rugby World Cup semi-final in sparkling form. Although they both lost their first game of the tournament, they’ve gone unbeaten since and played some scintillating rugby in the process.

Below our team form guide, you can see in-depth stats about how the two sides have performed in their last five games, including stats about the number of tries they’ve scored, their overall points difference and the number of times they’ve scored the first try. New Zealand have the edge in each category, but a spirited and motivated Argentina team may be hard to beat.

Argentina vs New Zealand 2023: Detailed Match Preview

On Friday 20th October, 2023, Argentina will face New Zealand in a Rugby World Cup semi-final at the Stade de France in Paris.

New Zealand have not won the Rugby World Cup since 2015 and, after entering this tournament as the third or fourth favourites, they’ll feel as though they are well positioned to take the Webb Ellis Cup back to Auckland. Now they’ve beaten Ireland, it will take a brave person to bet against them making the final.

However, before the tournament started, many pundits believed that Argentina were somewhat of a dark horse. Ever since they suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of fellow semi-finalists England, Michael Cheika’s men have been on a roll. Now, they’ll firmly believe that they’re only two good performances away from their first Rugby World Cup title.

Although New Zealand will certainly enter this match as the favourites, Michael Cheika’s men have put in some spirited performances during this Rugby World Cup and they are more than capable of springing a surprise. We can’t wait to see how it pans out. Let us know what you think will happen in the comments.
